Flappy Bird is an addicting arcade side-scroller in which your only goal is to navigate a bird over and under obstacles by simply tapping your screen. It seems incredibly easy, but one round of Flappy Bird will leave you with mixed feelings of wanting to immediately uninstall the game along with feeling compelled to load up another round.

Get Ready for a Flapping Good Time

Flappy Bird was initially released in May of 2013, but it didn't become a sensational hit until 2014 when it gained sudden popularity in January. The game is incredibly simple in nature and sports a similar objective and style of controls to games such as iCopter TNG. Most players will find it fun, but ridiculously frustrating at the same time because of how easy it is to fail.

Controlling Flappy Bird is as simple as repeatedly tapping your screen, but the rate and duration of your taps are what determine how long Flappy Bird stays alive. The controls seem simple enough at face value, but you'll soon find out how tricky it can be to actually use them. All it takes is one misjudgment in tapping and Flappy Bird will crash, bringing you right back to the beginning.

A Throwback to Retro Games

Flappy Bird will remind many players of games designed for 8-bit consoles, and there's no denying Flappy Bird's pixelated look is adorable. The background for the side-scroller is pretty generic and boring, but this probably isn't a bad thing considering you aren't meant to be looking at the backdrop as your pixelated, feathered friend courageously flaps his/her way past endless obstacles.

A Great Way to Kill Time

While Flappy Bird can be annoying at times, it's still a fun and engaging game that anyone can start playing immediately. Before long, you'll likely find yourself playing Flappy Bird more than any other mobile game you've ever tried. Give Flappy Bird a download - after all, it's free!

Flappy Bird is a casual game app that is great for passing the time, and the game is so maddeningly difficult that players become attached very quickly. The goal of the game is to help a small bird fly through several pipes, but it is much harder than it sounds. Tapping the screen moves the bird up and down as it traverses sideways across the screen through small gaps in the pipes, and mastering the timing for each flap will take quite some time. The game itself is built with highly simplistic graphics that are essentially a throwback to 8-bit gaming, but that doesn't detract from the engagement.
